The Giant ‘Microsoft’ Acquires Mobile Vendor Tool ‘Xamarin’

Microsoft wants its software to run everywhere, not just with Windows. That’s the major reason why it announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire Xamarin. The giant Microsoft made this move to expand its software and service to more platforms. Xamarin is a powerful software tool for making apps for iOS, Android and Windows platforms that can share common code. A mobile application delivers the same experience across different devices when it is build using Xamarin.

Scott Guthrie, Microsoft’s executive vice president of cloud and enterprise said – “The combination of Xamarin, Visual Studio, Visual Studio Team Services, and Azure provides a complete mobile app dev solution that provides everything you need to develop, test, deliver and instrument mobile apps for every device.”

Xamarin was founded in 2011 and more than 1.3 million developers have used its tools for developing mobile apps. Microsoft’s acquisition may be related to helping developer community to build apps that can become popular on every platform and device. There can be many other reasons why Microsoft made this decision of buying Xamarin. May be, Microsoft wanted to make cross-platform apps and Xamarin is just perfect tool for creating such applications.

This announcement makes everyone wonder whether Microsoft plans to build truly universal apps or there is some other hidden reason for this big decision. Let’s wait to watch what has Microsoft in store for us in the near future.
